3MT: Three Minutes Thesis

3MT-logo (png)

Graduate School, Burapha University has received a license to organize the Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) competition from The University of Queensland, Australia. The University of Queensland has been the inventor and developer of the 3MT™ competition since 2008. The 3MT™ competition focuses on skill development for research candidates. Participating in 3MT develops their academic, presentation, and research communication skills. It also cultivates their ability to effectively explain their research in a language appropriate for a non-specialist audience. Graduate students get 3 minutes to captivate the audience with their research, highlighting either the intriguing topic or the profound impact of their thesis. Since the 3MTTM launch by The Graduate School, University of Queensland, the 3MT™ competition has been adopted by over 900 universities in more than 85 countries worldwide.

3MT (Three Minute Thesis) is a thesis presentation competition that takes only 3 minutes with only 1 page of static slides. The challenge is to create clear, concise, and understandable content that does not cause questions later. 3MT is a great opportunity for participants to improve their presentation skills, build confidence, and learn how to communicate their research effectively. It also helps participants analyze the content of their thesis and condense it to a specified time.

Participant qualifications
Master’s and Doctoral students at Burapha University are encouraged to apply for the Three Minute Thesis competition if they are currently enrolled until the application deadline. Participation is open to all faculties, disciplines, and research areas.

Research eligibility for participation in the 3MT
The research must be the full or part of the dissertation, thesis, or independent study of graduate students at Burapha University. The student has been appointed an advisor, whose dissertation, thesis, or independent study must be approved by the advisor.
